MARÍA IGNACIA WALKER

 

María Ignacia Walker was trained as a jeweler, her interest in the human body is expressed through different artistic disciplines. She approaches art by working with metal and experimenting with different materials, using his artisan skills to make jewelry, body parts, objects, and installations.

She graduated in 2007 from the Universidad del Desarrollo, Chile in Art Direction.

In 2015 she completed her studies in Florence obtaining a master’s degree in “Contemporary Jewelry and Ornamentation” at the Alchimia Jewelry School, with the support of a grant from the Chilean Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage (Fondart).

In 2018 she is invited to Khio, the National Academy of Art in Oslo, to participate in a special artist-in-residence program in the metal department.

In recent years, Maria has been traveling across America, Asia and Europe giving lectures and giving workshops.

He currently lives in Florence, where she teaches at the Lorenzo de Medici Institute and travels for exhibitions and fairs.
